Escaping the Melbourne weather earlier in November, meant a trip up to the Gold Coast. This came with a whole lot of sun, warm weather and of course, a whole new world of eats, which basically is the dream for two Melbourne sun loving foodies!
We took it upon ourselves to try out as many recommended cafes and restaurants and the Burleigh Social was at the top of our list. We arrived at 10.45 for a casual slow brunch and weren't disappointed. We had heard that this place gets quite busy, however as it was a weekday, there were a handful of empty tables - lucky us! Ordering is done at the counter and while food/coffee is prepared, you just find yourself a spot and patiently wait.
The venue is off the main highway in Miami, but is a surprisingly quiet brunch spot. It is located on the same block as The Paddock. The Burleigh Social is also dog friendly, which in our books, is always a plus!
The menu wasn't very extensive, but it did have all the brunch & lunch essentials on it. Prices are reasonable (i believe our meals were $18) however, portion sizes aren't huge, so if visiting with a group of hungry males, keep this in mind. We ordered the paleo friendly poached eggs, 1/2 an avocado, cooked kale sweet potato hash and protein of choice. One smoked salmon and one house cured bacon, please! We polished most of it off, however, admittedly smuggled out our unfinished avocado.
The place has a laid back cool vibe about it, definitely somewhere you can sit and catch up with friends over a meal or meet for a caffeine hit. The food was delicious and we highly recommend checking this little gem out if you are ever in the area.
We rate this place 4/5
