5 Ingredient Chocolate Brownies
Wait, what did I just say? 5 ingredients and you'e got yourself some chocolate brownies? Yup! That's correct!
These brownies are the result of a pesky 3PM sweet tooth and no baked goods in the house. They are a one bowl wonder but taste like you've really put effort and nasties in, you know?! As they were made on a whim with a "what can i use" baking attitude, these babies are oh so quick to make and we bet that you have all of the ingredients on hand right now!
Honestly this recipe isn't even worthy of being typed out, because it really is that easy to do. So, ready to begin?
You will need:
- 2 large bananas (mashed) or 3 small
- 1/2 cup almond butter
- 1/2 cup cacao powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 egg/flax egg
Preheat the oven to 150 degrees celsius, and prepare your flax egg (if using) by measuring out 1 tablespoon of ground flax seed (measure after grinding) with 3 tablespoons of water. Stir well, and place in the fridge to set for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, the result should be a sticky egg-like substitute.
Prepare a baking tin (we used a loaf pan) by lining it with baking paper and set aside.
Next mash your banana in a big mixing bowl, and once completely mashed, add the almond butter and stir to combine. Once combined, mix through the flax egg, cacao power and vanilla. Your mixture will be runny but still quite sticky.
If you realllly want to make these special, and have chocolate chips or cacao nibs on hand, mix them through now - YUM!
Pour into prepared baking pan and bake for 35 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean. They should spring back when touched.
These delicious morsels can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week, or in the freezer for up to 3 weeks.
